About Us

In 1993, Jim Maicki started a sales company in a small, one room office in suburban Detroit.  He called his company Jim Mackie Sales.  Jim’s mission was simple: “Sell quality building products to lumber dealers.”

Using his basement as his warehouse, Jim sold Flextrim, chimney caps, Wood Kote gel’d stain, and represented a hardwood moulding manufacturer as a one-man operation.  As his product line evolved from mostly representing manufacturers to distributing products for manufacturer’s, so did his need for space.  Jim Mackie Sales moved to a proper warehouse in Livonia, MI in 1995.  That warehouse was quickly outgrown, so he leased the warehouse directly behind him and knocked down the dividing cinder-block wall, doubling his warehouse space.

In 2000, the product lines and customer base continued to expand and evolve, so the company moved to a much larger facility in Romulus, MI.  That year Jim Mackie Sales became Jim Mackie Distribution.  Four years and a couple of moves later, Jim Mackie Distribution settled on its current location on Beverly Road in Romulus, MI.

Over the last fifteen years, Jim Mackie Distribution has steadily become a major distributor of both specialty and commodity millwork products in the building materials industry throughout the Midwest.  Jim Mackie Distribution has always – and always will – stress the importance of customer service, and doing whatever we can to contribute to the success of our dealers.  Throughout the evolution and expansion of Jim Mackie Distribution, the mission has remained the same: “Sell quality products to lumber dealers.”
